My point being that it is not economical for a business to buy a backup generator, store and maintain it, and comply with codes to do so, for the once a year to five years it may be beneficial. Otherwise, it would be a common practice. And a small home generator would be nowhere what a fuel station would need. Ran a convenience store and the monthly bill for electricity was $1600, at .074 cents per kilowatt! It's just as feasible for individuals to have there own generators as businesses, yet the vast majority do not. Thanks for your reply!
