Greece votes, situation unlikely to improve, oil prices fall

GasBuddy Blog -- The votes are tallied. Greeks voted pro-austerity, but just barely. With nearly 100 percent of ballots counted, New Democracy won 29.7 percent of the vote, ahead of SYRIZA on 27 percent and PASOK on 12.3 percent. Oil rallied in electronic trading shortly after results were revealed, but gave up that ground shortly after. The problems that haunt Greece may continue as parliament remains heavily saturated by both pro-austerity and anti-austerity lawmakers.

The expectation of the continued stalemate between the two sides sent oil prices down to start the week, with West Texas Intermediate crude off over $1/bbl to $82.79 while wholesale gasoline prices also gave up ground in all regions, falling 3-6 cents per gallon at press time. The...

Once accustomed to a public dole the voters will never vote to reduce their own pay...they will ride this socialist horse to the ground and then set fire to it never once comprehending what the problem is/was.

Greece most likely will fail, txrojo, but not b/c of simple overspending. Greece has been unable to collect taxes from most of its citizens and foreigners, has allowed people who barely paid into the social coffers to retire in their early 50s and so on. If you don't have money coming in, but spend it anyways, then you will still have a negative flow. But the underlying issue is not solely spending.

I expect Greece to fail. It would, but nations keep bailing them out. Bailouts do not work because they do not address the fundamental problem; overspending.

Oil needs to fall to $50/barrel. Let's use it all up, until it's gone!

Sometimes things have to get really bad before any good will come of it. Like certain car companies and the bailouts from 'coming out of the closet' Barry. It could get much worse or never improve to a better level. Oil prices fall when there is less of a market for oil - less jobs, less driving, less fuel purchases, prices tend to go down at the pump. But, Big Oil can 'correct' prices to where they want by refining less fuel.
Whatever the size or shape of the vehicle, Produce and ‘Drive’ vehicles with high MPG, are very safe and reliable, has a ‘reasonable’ cost and a good ‘value’ for the money. Consider using other forms of less expensive transportation to lower your cost, if possible.
The price of fuel at the pump is too high!

The prices at the pump here in the Kansas City, Missouri area have risen .46 cents per gallon in the last 2 weeks. This GasBuddy article is way off from the reality in the Midwest.

Oil may fall but gas won't...its been up or level for last 4-5 price changes here - even though short-term predictions were for it to fall slightly (in fact has in non-city areas here - go figure).

We got a big boost in my home town with the opening of a Pilot station yesterday. They were 20 cents per gallon cheaper than anybody else making all other stations here lower their price to compete.

Prices should be falling and let Greece handle its own affairs what is it with these other country's that they could have such a effect on us.
