There is an ebb and flow of market share that is being ignored by short-sighted prejudiced articles.

"Suzuki for sure has no chance."
Really a shame too because I have a soft spot in my heart for them. I had a Samari for a couple of years. Pretty primitive, no A/C or other amenities and needed a tail wind to hit 70mph and sounded like an out of balance washing machine above 50. But what a blast. A convertible in the summer and a 4 wheel drive jeep in the winter. Good value too. The lowest cost per mile vehicle I've ever owned. Would have had it a lot longer but I rolled it and my wife wouldn't let me get another one.

The lesser known automakers will always be there because prices are needed for those that can't always afford the bigger automakers.

It would be sad to see Volvo and Mitsubishi go away, for having owned vehicles from both brands I can attest to Mitsubishi's reliability and Volvo's superior engineering, especially in the area of safety.

I notice Suzuki's... but it tends to be the "SX4 Crossover" hatchback that I notice. it's small but not dinky. And they claim it's the cheapest AWD vehicle you can buy new. That's a selling point.

If Hyundai can survive and thrive, anybody can do it. These car companies just have to have quality and commitment.

maybe the smaller companies, as you call them, are making the larger corporation look twice at themselves. a lot of smaller companies have some very good ideas and products and the big guys then try to incorporate into their own products.

For the amount of money it costs the taxpayers to keep them open, GM should leave and let someone with a profitable business model come in.

Hard to sell cars with little or no advertising and a limited dealer network. Frankly, I'm a little surprised that Mini, Smart, and Jaguar aren't on this list.

Apple has about 25% market share right now. Guess people like their Apple stuff. I know that I do. It just works.
They have about 70% of the tablet market, about 70% of the portable music player market, and a good chunk of the cell phone market.

1) A small chunk of the American market is a larger than big chunks of most markets.
2) I was surprised at the names - they are familiar (if you are old).
And sparkie815 - the TRASH comes from Government Motors and the UAW. Depending on what joke you tell - Fix Or Repair Daily, Found On Road Dead. Detroit has EARNED that reputation. Some of us follow the motto:
Look for the union label, it tells you what NOT to buy!
