Thinking about it crappyfool, you have done an excellent job of identifying those who are mentally handicapped and do not qualify to vote.

Not Union rules, no utility under safety jurisdiction of the North American Reliability Council would touch these crews after the Energy Act of 2005. Crews have to be tested and individuals certified for knowledge and qualifications to work the level of voltage being worked on. I seem to recall that that bill was passed by a Republican Senate and Republican House and signed by a Republican President. Digging through more reliable sources the Alabama crews are only qualified up to 7.2-12.4kv systems the work is to be on 13.2-34.5kv systems. Big difference in construction standards and safety procedures.
The crews could have stayed and helped with debris removal but chose to pout and leave. The problem is not a union problem it is a safety problem. There are crews from Perdenales Electric Coop here that are non union up there working along with crews from City Public Service of San Antonio but they have all of their NERC 34.5 kv certifications in place. Sounds like someone trying to manipulate the news for political gain. I smell political bias.
Red tape has been cut for those who are qualified for the work. carranco , you want your auto mechanic to remove your appendix and his helper to administer anesthesia? How about you doeslayersr or you peauxbeau55?

New Jersey's loss is New York's gain.
Wonder if New Jersey turns down crews from right-to-work states? I know Houston's CenterPoint Energy sent 200 linemen up to the Northeast.

That is the liberal, socialist, marxist and progressive attitude for you. Just plain silly. The dems are in bed with the unions.... plain and simple. They do not care about problems or suffering of people as long as they get their union dues.
No, it is not silly... I take that back, it is plain asinine.

Well alrighty then! Give me a break, these unions are causing more devastation. What the unions are doing is akin to telling a surgeon you can't operate on me because you aren't the same ethnicity as me. Nothing like cutting off your nose to spite your face. Jerks.

I guess you thought the article was interesting enough to read, right?
If you read the entire thread, you will see that I apologized for posting it in the wrong place, but once posted with no way to change that... you see?
What it has to do with gas prices is that many states that have refineries are "union" states. That means the cost of production is higher. Simple enough, right? Now that we have established that this article is valid for this forum, are you for or against unions? ;-)

What was that? The Speechmaker's Platitude Proclamation of, " ..America is tougher, and we’re tougher because we pull together. We leave nobody behind. We make sure that we respond as a nation and remind ourselves that whenever an American is in need, all of us stand together..." unless you're not in a Union.

I've never understood the republicans liking that fat blow hard. He is really a nasty man if you corner him. Some may think this is a good thing, but it depends. For Christie it doesn't take much to make him mad and show his huge ass.

We already have something to that effect in some states. It is called "Right To Work". Although not perfect, it is a start.

Minimum of 2 people to do 1 persons job. Not including a supervisor, foreman and union rep to stand and observe.

I'm right there with you. I worked in grocery years ago and was intimidated into joining the Commercial Food Workers Union. I have nothing good to say about that union. It only supported the worst employees and only took money from me.
All my other dealings with unions have proven to me that they are lazy and entitlement minded. I'm sure my comments will stir the ire in some pro union slobs here. All I can say is go for it. I know what the union does and I know how union people "work", if you can call it that. Nearly every government entity in this country, especially the Federal government is just the same. Lousy.

Judging from the devastation pictured on TV and private video footage, I would imagine that the storm's victims would be appreciative of any help that they could get. To be refused from helping because they did not carry a Union Card is the height of foolishness and the folks who refused such help deserve to remain in the dark.
